STROKES Game Rules

Strokes is a game that has the characteristics of golf, but plays like pool. Unlike golf, defensive moves can be taken. A player can knock an opponent into traps to gain additional shots, or even send your opponent back a hole! Here's how it works:

Objective: First player to complete the ninth hole wins.

How To Play: Player 1 places carom on tee #1 and shoots toward hole #1. Player 2 does the same. After the hole is completed, player immediately tees up for the following shot and shoots.

Traps: If you land entirely inside a trap, the following applies:

Brown - Player loses 1 shot.

Blue - Player loses 2 shots.

Red - Player goes back 1 hole.

Green - Player receives an additional shot

Note: When landing entirely in the blue, the player can place the carom anywhere in the blue prior to shooting.

Any carom hit off the board returns to the center of the board. If a player has additional shots and hits their carom off the board, all additional shots are forfeited. The border of the game is considered "off the board". Never move your carom until it is your turn. If you are in the blue or red you must wait for your turn prior to moving your carom (If you are in a trap and then knocked out by your opponent, you are no longer penalized).

If a player lands in the red prior to completing hole #1, that player loses and the game is over.
